Product Overview

The Inter-Search product delivers a full range of functions for your library administration and client service.  Our products include:

• Inter-Search ILS for Networking - our hosted multi-network Inter-Library Loan networking tool
• Inter-Search ILS for Libraries - a simple solution for client submission of ILS requests with full integration with Inter-Search ILS
• Inter-Search DB - our database access platform, providing low cost access to online full text database services
• Inter-Search LMS - our full-function Library Management System based around the Koha core.

Inter-Search ILS is a full-feature Inter-Library Loan system developed to meet the needs of libraries who face the cost pressure of existing ILL arrangements.   Six Australian and New Zealand library networks currently deploy inter-search for their Inter-Library Loan sharing activities.

Prosentient Systems has developed a practical web-based product that provides an document exchange system for collaborating institutions to share their document or subscription holdings, and using intelligent automatic ranking and workload distribution.  

Advanced features include:

• raising Inter-Library Loans by electronic or by fax
• automatic intelligent workload distribution and ranking of requests
• automatic processing of citations into ILL requests
• bulk holdings upload and management
• a sophisticated and fast search engine
• links to electronic resources
• optional gateway to full text database resources with a federated search interface (see IntersearchDB)

The web-based service has attracted subscriptions from over 300 libraries across 4 separate library community groups over the last three years.  Its success rests on distributing the workload among the participating libraries and providing a very low cost infrastructure for participating libraries.  Libraries use the service on an annual subscription basis costing less than an single journal subscription.  

The Inter-Search LMS is based around the Koha open source core - the first and most widely used open source Library Management System.  We have extended the Koha core to provide a rich hosted solution to your Library Management Need.

The Inter-Search datababase service provides a low cost gateway to a wide range of online full text database services.  Visit http://www.intersearch.com.au/database/databaselogin.asp.  Subscription is as low as $50 per month.

 

	GRATISNET - (www.gratisnet.org.au) has over 350 Health and Medical special libraries libraries in Australia and PNG.
	GLASS (www.glassdd.org) comprises over 50 government and social services libraries in NSW and Victoria.
	LILLI - Legal Inter-Library Loans Interchange (www.lilli.org.au).  The LILLI Network provides an Interlibrary Loan request system for over 30 participating legal libraries in NSW.
	ALIES (www.alies.org.au) is a network of libraries in Australia and New Zealand in the area of Emergency Services.
	TRANZINFO (http://ill.tranzinfo.org) is a network of Transport libraries situated in Australia and New Zealand
	QShare (http://www.qshare.org.au) is a network of 15 Queensland government libraries.

Prosentient Systems provides Inter-Search as a fully hosted solution ready to run.  The following are guildines on service costs:

Inter-Search Database service - $50/month.

Inter-Search ILS - $135 annual subscription (allow a once-off $AUS3000 setup cost for initial network establishment)

Inter-Search LMS - $50-$100 per month hosting service fee (allow $500 per library for conversion of existing catalogue and patron data)

System Requirements

Any standard Internet web browser can be used to access the service (for example Internet Explorer or FireFox).  Inter-Search uses the latest smart hosting services to deliver information online and through web services.  Hosting is provided by Prosentient Systems as part of the annual subscription fee.
