David Cook

David Cook is a co-op student in the Masters of Library and Information Studies program at the School of Library, Archival, and Information Studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. At Prosentient from January to July 2012, he assists with training and technical support, as well as with projects requiring PHP scripting for web applications and SQL for relational databases.

Over the past four and a half years, he has worked in circulation, cataloguing, serials, and acquisitions within several different academic, government, and law libraries throughout Western Canada.  During this time, he has thoroughly used a wide variety of LMS software, re-configured a web-based LMS, catalogued hundreds of books, helped facilitate two data migrations, provided legal research assistance, and coordinated the physical re-location of a 100,000+ item library. Having loved it all, he thinks he has truly found his calling in library and information systems.

The UBC Arts Co-op program consistently delivers the highest caliber students from one of Canada’s top universities for employers looking to expand their workforce for special projects or peak periods.
